Title: Call for proposal: East Africa Grants on public procurement and whistleblowing.

The Civil Society Team (CST) is launching the East Africa Small Grants Scheme for the first time as part of the Fast-tracking UN Convention against Corruption (UNCAC) Implementation project. The CST will sponsor civil society organization’s (CSOs) innovative proposals in anti-corruption aimed to advance the implementation of the themes on public procurement ( art. 9) and whistleblower protection ( art. 32).

The CST in partnership with the UK Foreign and Commonwealth office (UK-FCO) aim to strengthen civil society capacity to work constructively with government, with the ultimate aim to succeed in implementing UNCAC.

Please consult the Call for Proposals for full details of the scheme, including the objectives of the programme (1.2), the eligibility criteria of applicants (2.1) and projects (2.2), and how the projects will be evaluated (4). Grants will be awarded up to $10,000 depending on the proposals, and there is a limited number to sponsor.

Title: CARTIER WOMEN’S INITIATIVE

Since 2006, the Cartier Women’s Initiative has supported 219 female entrepreneurs worldwide. Each year, 21 finalists representing 7 regions (Latin America & the Caribbean, North America, Europe, Sub-Saharan Africa, Middle East & North Africa, East Asia and South Asia & Oceania) are selected during the first round of the competition. These finalists are then invited to attend the Awards week (exact location still TBC) during which the second round of the competition takes place. After the final jury evaluation, 7 laureates, one for each region, are announced on stage during the Awards ceremony.
